Ho Ho Ho

A little while passed since I wrote on my blog the last time, sorry for that, but I had an exciting visit from overseas here..hehe!
But before I am going to tell you about that, I want to give you an impression on what our Christmas was like in America- beforehand I'd like to tell you that it was awesome!
My hostmum's family has a, to my mind adorable, Christmas tradition- it starts with meeting all her siblings and their partners and kids and her parents at a house, and continues with having a lot of fun, eating yummy appetizers and then the main meal- three kind of soups, potatoe dumplings and desert(Shelly and I baked cheesecakes-yuuum :) ).

while waiting for the food, Kaitie made a Christmas card for everyone
I felt very comfortable just hanging out with everybody and having a good time, it also distracted me from feeling sad because I couldn't  be with my family at home. Btw, we skyped that day, was good to see everybody in that cosy, shimmering light that comes from candles and the Christmas tree, made me feel like I was home :)

After some while it was time to get the presents!
They do the "Secret Santa", where one uncle-aunt couple gives a present to one or two of their nieces or nephews- which is a very good idea because the kids get preeeetty excited and it is a special thing for them.

lining up for getting the secret santa presents :)

Erica wrapping me up in paper- she then took pictures of me after doing the right posing.."put your head like this!" ;)

crazy decorations- this was just set up in one frontyard!
And theeeeen, it was finally time for Santa to come!!!! YAAAAY!

So after the kids put the cookies, milk and reindeer food out, they went to sleep very quickly ("we don't want to see Santa!") Kyle also put away everything that was close to the kamin, so that Santa would have no problems to get in the house!

Can you see the food on the floor? what unwary reindeer! ;)

One of Kaitie's messages to Santa :)

Santa also left a footprint on the floor! how exciting!
So, finally, at six o'clock in the morning, after the kids were running around upstairs, they came to my door and screamed "Iiiiiidaaaa, IIIiddaaa,, Santa was here!!!!" So they were allowed to open their presents santa brought them- like a wii, some games, a guitar, ice skates and some more things... the kids were thrilled!!! :)
And Santa also brought some nice things for me, my stocking was filled with all kinds of delicious candy and useful things like hand balm, ice scraper and  so on.. :)

I really had a blast although I was missing my family a lot, of course (since this is the favorite holiday of mine) but I think it had not been THAT hard for me because I knew that my mom and sister would be here the next day..and this was kinda awesome!
But I'll write about this next time.. :)

  Xoxo,
Ida :)
