Fire!!!

On Sunday it was time for our monthly aupair meeting- this time we met at a fire station that was very close to my home (made me feel safer), where we were able to find out how to protect yourself and the kids from fire and how to call 911 and what to expect.
We were also able to try on the gear and the time we needed was stopped- also sitting in the fire truck was a cool feeling!
What I enjoyed about this meeting was that I met a lot of sweet girls that I haven't met before- a new Ida from Sweden, other swedish aupairs that are pretty new and some other girls from all over the world!
After the meeting me and some of my friends went to Olive Garden to enjoy some dinner- and I got surprised!!!( I did not think that this was still possible!!! ;) ) They even have refills on SOUPS!! I know it is not THAT funny, but a soup refill just cracks me up :D
Well, that taught me that I still have to learn a lot ;)

Take care,

Captain Underpants

In honor of Kaitie's and Kyle's beloved Captain Underpants books (they are hilarious!), Kyle invented the "Captain Underpants- Day", which he also marked in the calender- as it is a pretty important date!

Well, when the day arrived and I picked him up from school, I could not even make it up the stairs and find an almost naked Kyle just dressed in his underpants (of course) and some weapons that he needed- he was running around the house and didn't take it off till he had to put on his PJ's :D
Also take a close look to see the grenades, the hammer and the gun...cute little Captain Underpants! ;)

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! After a few months of excited waiting we finally went to Downtown Philly to see the awesome Musical "Mary Poppins"!
The kids had been very happy and excited all day and even I got pink cheeks because I was so looking forward to seeing it!
We had the best seats ever! We were the first ones on a lower level and could see perfectly!!
The show had a lot of special effects, Bert was walking upside down and Mary was flying over the audience's head!!! The cast also had quite the talent and we were stunned when we saw the dances, that even the kids Jane and Michael did! The woman who played Mary did an awesome job, too! She could dance, she could sing and she just acted like Mary Poppins! I just loved it! And even the kids were sitting still the whole time and didn't move a finger ;)

What a Girls- Weekend out!

The weekend of March 19 Miriam, Ida and me went to New York City - it would be Miriam's last time there so we decided to see a little bit of everything or did things that she wanted to do- and it turned out FABULOUS!
When we left Saturday morning at 5.30 we were all a little too tired to expect such a great time there-
and when we came to the boat that should take us to Ellis Island, we were really frustrated because the line for that was 3 blocks long!
But, as we did not want such a thing to bother us, we decided to spend the day different- which turned out to be a good idea!
We had fun wandering through Central Park, looking at the Bull near Wall Street, walking on Wall Street, getting onto Brooklyn Bridge (which turns out to  be my favorite place in NYC!), visiting Pier 17 and some more stuff...
We also went to a fresh store to buy some food for the evening- we enjoyed olives, actual BREAD, humus and spent a fun night at the hotel room.

Miriam and me at Pier 17
supposed to bring me luck, isn't it?
Central Park- whoever watches Gossip Girl should know that place (I was told^^)
On Sunday we went to see the Statue of Liberty- and we were the second ones in line!!!
After some delay where I had to take almost all my clothes off(since Sept 11 they are very strict with how and who gets on the ship- they have an airport-style security check), we made it to the Liberty Island- and guess what!- all the other people first went to the museum or whatever, and it happened that we had the whole front of the Statue for ourselves for about 5 minutes! It was so amazing!
We of course took the opportunity to take some pictures ;)
on the Liberty Island with the Manhattan Skyline
Yaaaaay
Ida, the tourist
Can't miss that! I also saw a Schilling at the museum :)
We also decided to visit the New Yorker Love- Sign- we knew it was bigger and on the ground, but this was..funny! It was standing under a scaffolding, and although it was so big you could hardly see it..well,..there's no better love sign than in the city of brotherly love, am I right?;)

As you can see it had been an amazing weekend full of fun, laughing, and getting the "Wow"-Feeling back concerning New York...- I think the nice weather did its part to that :)

Talk to you soon guys,
take care :)

St.Paddy's day

Yay- another holiday had to be celebrated!
This meant that the motivated aupair group had to do something as well!
Well...as it was a Thursday night, we decided to go out for dinner...and didn't join the beer drinking gangs that hung out everywhere else ;)
(that was really a rough part for some people that we saw..I didn't know that you can get THAT drunk! :D )

Nevertheless, we put on some green clothes and had a lot of fun talking about that we had no idea why St.Patrick's day is being celebrated neither knowing why Americans celebrate Everything!
Also, watching parades and hearing the kids talk about making a leprechaun trap (unfortunately not catching one though) was kinda cute, too :)

Me and Laura...and yessss..I am a lucky princess! ;)
Take care!

Philly- still thumbs up for that!

It's been a while since I posted on my blog, but it is still happening ;)
Last weekend  Miriam, Ida and I went to Philadelphia to spend a relaxing day just walking around the city, enjoying awesome(est!) spring weather and buying the most delicious cookies in the whole world (thanks to me, who discovered them with Dani ;) )

We had a lot of fun as we were just talking about silly stuff and, as I said, just walking around and stopping everywhere we wanted.
Ida and her cookies

Making friends?

Me in front of a little bit of the Philly skyline

Ida and Miriam with their good friend, the Moose- how can anyone's favorite animal be a moose?- Ida doesn't know herself^^(it's not even cute ;) )

Ooops, she did it again! (poor Rocky)

at the River..enjoying marvelous weather and view

It definitely had been a great day with lots of walking, fun and cookies!
It gave a nice feeling of spring coming closer and showed us some more of Philly.. :)

Whatsoever...

haven't posted much for a while, so I guess it is time again ;)

When Dani was here something else happened- I was confronted with my first car problems ever!! And I was freaking out, although my sweetie was with me... so, it happened, that the signal for the airbag was blinking- but did that mean, that it was going to pop into my face every second, or is it not working anymore, or what? So I pulled over, and after a few calls and Shelly coming to pick us up, my car, Taylor ( ;) ), was towed-  I guess there's a first time for everything, right? It was just frightening that problems with the car occured when I don't even understand anything about cars in German!! :D
Taylor and me ;)
Something nice also took place last week- the local High School did "The Sound of Music", where high school "kids" did a production, sang the songs of the musical and did the settings- IT WAS AMAZING! I had such a blast, hearing americans say "I am an Austrian"- "You should be German!" and so on...the students were amazing and they tried really hard to make the Austrian traditional clothes look authentic...they did a pretty nice job, although Georg's Tracht looked very.....funny :)
All in all it was a stupendous show and I enjoyed myself...
I also decided to wear my dirndl (at least the parts that I still fit into :P ) and after the show, when the kids wanted to get some autographs from the actors, a lady came up to me and said: "Great job on the show!" That was hysterical! I loved it! :D
Jodeldodido!
Yesterday we had another nice thing going on- we went skiing in the Pocono's!
Was a great experience for me, as I skiied in jeans, and the kids were doing awesome- they just went straight down the hill and had a blast- it was really a fun day :)
Yeeeeah! :D
Well...that's enough for now, hope I got you a lil updated :)

Take care,
Ida
